Physiotherapy treatments

Manual therapy

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a physical treatment primarily used by physiotherapists to treat musculoskeletal pain and disability.

It mostly includes kneading and manipulation of muscles, joint mobilisation and joint manipulation. It is also used by Rolfers, massage therapists, athletic trainers, osteopaths, and physicians.

Exercise therapy

Exercise Therapy

Exercise physiologists prescribe exercise interventions for building strength and functional capacity for a range of conditions.

These interventions are exercise-based and include health and physical activity education and lifestyle modification.

Physiotherapist performing dry needling into back

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a treatment that healthcare providers use for pain and movement issues associated with myofascial trigger points.

With this technique, a provider inserts thin needles into or near your trigger points. The needles stimulate your muscles, which causes them to contract or twitch.

This helps relieve pain and improve your range of motion.

Mulligans Technique

The Mulligan technique is where a joint mobilisation is applied and then the joint is actively moved by the patient.

The main principle behind the Mulligan technique is that once a passive glide or mobilisation to the joint is pain free, our physiotherapist can progress your treatment.

Shockwave therapy

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing process. The therapy involves the delivery of high-frequency shock waves (sound impulses) to the injured area to stimulate healing.

It can relieve pain and promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues. It accomplishes this by releasing growth factors in the injured tissue.

Shockwave Therapy has been used for many years as an alternative to invasive surgeries or traditional rehabilitation.

Physiotherapist analysing hip movement

Biomechanical Analysis

Biomechanical analysis includes first taking a comprehensive history to understand the type of injury or pain.

Then, we perform a physical examination that includes assessment of flexibility, muscle strength and imbalances, range of motion at a joint, leg length and posture in order to reveal the effects of these biomechanical markers on an injury.
